In tonight’s first world title fight, reigning welterweight champion Endy Semeleer (34-1, 17 KO) will put his title on the line against Jay Overmeer (29-4, 15 KO). Semeleer recently cemented his position as king of this division during Glory 85 when he impressively dealt with Murthel Groenhart. Jay Overmeer is predicted a great future at GLORY. Can ‘The Matrix’ fulfill that promise already?
Middleweight champion Donovan Wisse (18-1, 10 KO) faces perhaps his biggest test yet. He will face the number one challenger: Serkan Ozcaglayan (45-7, 36 KO). Wisse already defeated Jason Wilnis, Yousri Belgaroui, Cesar Almeida and Juri De Sousa on their way to the top. But Ozcaglayan, with no less than 36 ko’s to his name, could just be an opponent of a different caliber.
In the co-main event, Donegi Abena (26-9, 7 KO) defends his GLORY Light Heavyweight title against Hagenees Tarik Khbabez (48-10-1, 27 KO). Abena won the title in February this year. He will do everything to keep it. But Khbabez has already proven to be really dangerous.
In the main event of the evening Croatian Antonio Plazibat (22-4, 16 KO) and our compatriot Tariq ‘Cookie’ Osaro (24-2-1, 12 KO) battle for the interim world heavyweight title.
Mike’s Gym teammates will have to put aside their friendship for one night. Because this is hard against hard. The winner will compete against reigning world champion Rico Verhoeven later this year, during Collision 6.
Glory Collision 5 will take place on Saturday 17 June in Rotterdam Ahoy and can be streamed live at Videoland from 7.30 pm. Mark Schaaf is the presenter, he has Remy Bonjasky and Melvin Manhoef as analysts at the desk. Jay-Jay Boske is the ringside reporter.
