Two people were seriously injured in an accident on the A6 near Lelystad on Thursday night. As a result, the highway between Lelystad-Noord and Lelystad is closed. Rijkswaterstaat reports this. The road would reopen at 6:30 am.
The road is closed in a southerly direction. Motorists are advised to take a detour via Zwolle and Amersfoort on the N50, A28 and A1. This does mean that motorists spend a lot longer on the road.
Midnight
The highway has been closed since midnight. A truck and a passenger car then collided. Salvage work is currently underway.
A spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat cannot say why it takes hours to clear the highway. However, recovering a truck is always more difficult than recovering a car.
To hospital
The two seriously injured people were taken to hospital. It appears the car crashed into the back of the truck. Photos show that there is a lot of damage to the car.
In addition to the police and ambulance, the fire brigade was also called. It is unclear whether they had to free people from the car or truck. The cause of the accident is also unknown.
