On King’s Day, Capelle is traditionally full of activities for young and old. Cookie snacks, noise parades, a fair and of course the various cloth markets have been set up again. Below you will find a complete overview of all activities in Capelle aan den IJssel.


Community center Capelle-West, Willem Barentszstraat 7.45 am – 12.00 pm

Children can be given a smile from 7:45 am to 8:45 am. Then the party traditionally starts again with a noisy parade from 9:00 am to 9:45 am. This parade is accompanied by a band on decorated bicycles. After the parade, prizes will be handed out for the best decorated bicycles and coolest outfits.


Capelle Center 09:00 – 17:00

Braderie and children’s dress market

Numerous activities are organized around the metro. The event starts at Amnesty Square around 9 a.m fair. Standing there food trucks and more than 60 stalls with second-hand and new items. You can come here until 5 p.m.

The children’s dress market is also held here. You can find these around the metro track. Only children and their belongings are allowed here. Of course the fair opened.

Street artists

You can encounter many different street artists around the fair. Mickey and Mini Mouse are present, but Paw Patrol, Dora and Pinocchio are also present. Children can get a cool glitter tattoo, and you can have your picture taken with fun characters.

Music

From 10 a.m. various artists will once again provide good music on Amnesty Square. From Dutch and English guitar rock and MUG The One Man Band.


Lijstersingel 10 a.m. – 5 p.m

If you like old Dutch games, you can have fun at the Lijstersingel. Children up to 12 years old can participate for free in games such as cookie eating, egg walking, sack race and can toss. Families participate in a sack race and can win a prize.

For the really tough, there is a climbing wall, an obstacle course, rodeo riding and a team activity to build a raft.


Schollevaar (Large field Contrabass) 09.00 – 16.00

Around 9:00 am the playground Rollebos Open. Admission is free and there is a bouncy castle. You can also score a delicious hamburger sandwich. When you purchase coffee or tea you get a free slice of cake.

For the 39th time, the Oranjefeest in Schollevaar is also organized by the Neighborhood Group. This will be held on the large field at the Contrabas primary school. There is a fair, a free market for children and lots of music. The music will kick off at 10 a.m. by The Elevarttos from CApelle and will be closed by tribute band Rory Gallagher.

The activities last until 4:00 PM.


Sports Hall Schenkel 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM

A King’s Day for children is organized at the sports hall by VAAC (Association of Antilians and Arubans Capelle aan den IJssel). There is a bouncy castle, kids bingo, games and a quiz about the royal family. You can also stuff your own with poffertjes and cotton candy.


Old Place 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Neighborhood group Plantsoen Oudeplaats invites Capellen residents to an afternoon of games at the Old Place. At 3 p.m. there will be cookie bites for children, an egg race, nail pooping and a skipping ball competition. At 4 p.m. you can get married and throw eggs. Who will keep it intact and who will throw it the furthest?
