The police made the arrest following a months-long investigation into a number of cold cases. The police had new clues because they had managed to get their hands on crypto communication, a way in which criminals talk to each other.

According to crime reporter John van den Heuvel, the suspect is 44-year-old Jaouad W., he wrote yesterday in De Telegraaf. He talked about this last night at the table at RTL Boulevard:

The suspect is said to be connected to a double murder in a parking lot in Houten in 2011, the police report. That is where 47-year-old Pieter Vos and 53-year-old Jaap Zillig died.

He is also said to be involved in the murder of 22-year-old Mohammed Alarasi and 38-year-old Samir Jabli. They died in Amersfoort in 2014. Later that year, 68-year-old Rinus Moerer was murdered in Steenbergen.

Shot dead in the street

“The victims were all shot dead in the street, but who was responsible remained a mystery all these years,” the police wrote.

The police write about the suspect that he is ‘currently serving a prison sentence for another crime and will remain in custody for the time being’. Joaouad W. was one of the suspects in the mega criminal case 26Koper in 2016.

That group would carry out assignments ‘on order’ for Ridouan Taghi, among others. W. had been convicted for his membership in the group and would be released next month. According to Van den Heuvel, the police wanted to prevent him from making victims again.
