Freedom Internet reduces prices for KPN’s fiber optic network | Tweakers

The largest price drops are visible for fiber optic subscriptions with a speed of 200 and 500 Mbit/s, Freedom Internet reports in a blog post. Customers who choose one of these subscriptions will now save 10 euros per month. From May 1, these subscriptions will cost 57 and 61 euros respectively.

The 1 Gbit/s subscription will be 9 euros cheaper per month, costing 67 euros, while the 100 Mbit/s subscription will drop by 6 euros to 53 euros. These prices also include the rental of the modem. New customers can temporarily receive an extra discount of 5 euros per month for the first 24 months.

A year ago, Freedom Internet already reduced the prices of KPN fiber optic subscriptions with a high speed of 500 or 1000 Mbit/s by 3 euros per month. However, the cheapest subscription, with a speed of 50 Mbit/s, then went from 49 euros to 51 euros per month. This is also the only KPN fiber optic subscription that will not decrease in price from May, but will continue to cost 51 euros.

Freedom Internet was founded in 2019 out of dissatisfaction with KPN’s decision to close down its XS4ALL brand. The organization of the new provider consists of many former employees of XS4ALL. Freedom Internet not only supplies internet via KPN’s fiber optic network, but also via the networks of other providers. In this way, Freedom Internet wants to provide internet via fiber optic everywhere in the Netherlands, even if a specific network provider is not active everywhere in the Netherlands. However, the prices of the other fiber optic subscriptions will not be reduced.
