Kejriwal is being represented by senior lawyer AM Singhvi. Singhvi starts his argument by saying that the importance of the case in terms of the level playing field.

“Level playing field is not just a phrase, word but has 3 components—- it is part of free and fair elections which in turn is part of democracy and basic structure. It series of timing issue — to not participate in the election & to try and demolish the political party before the first vote is cast. The timing series of basic structure, democracy issue, free and fair elections issue,” he says

The timing here suggests unconstitutional action. There is no material in any manner supporting under section 50 of the PMLA, Singhvi says.

The Aam Aadmi Party leaders will sit on a fasting dharna at Jantar Mantar on April 7 in protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, party leader Gopal Rai said on Wednesday.

“On April 7, Delhi government ministers, AAP MPs, MLAs, councilors and office-bearers will hold a fast at Jantar Mantar. This will be an open event and student organizations, farmer bodies, traders can come and participate in it,” he said. (ANI)

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been rapidly losing weight since his arrest on March 21, senior AAP leader Atishi claimed on Wednesday and accused the BJP of putting his health at risk by keeping him in jail.

She said the Aam Aadmi Party will seek legal help over the chief minister’s health condition.

However, the administration of Tihar jail, where Kejriwal is lodged until April 15, has denied the claims about his health. A senior Tihar jail official said Kejriwal’s vitals are normal. (PTI)

Delhi minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai announced on Wednesday that the Aam Aadmi Party will observe a ‘Samuhik Upwas’ (community fasting) to protest against the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal at Jantar Mantar on April 7.

Kejriwal was sent to judicial custody until April 15 and is lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with a money-laundering case linked to a liquor excise policy scam.

“All AAP ministers, MLAs, MPs and party leaders will observe a ‘Samuhik Upwas’ at Jantar Mantar on April 7 to protest against the judgment of CM Arvind Kejriwal,” Gopal Rai said while addressing a press conference in the national capital. (ANI)

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Atishi said, “Arvind Kejriwal is a severe diabetes patient but he never let his health issue come as a hindrance in the service of the country. Since the BJP-ruled central government arrested him there has been a serious challenge to his health condition, his sugar level fell thrice while he was in ED custody. He has lost 4.5 kg in the last 12 days, and for a patient who is a diabetic, it may create serious health complications. BJP can go to any extent to ruin Arvind Kejriwal and AAP and hence I am warning BJP that the entire nation is watching you and if something happens to him, neither this country nor even God will forgive the BJP.”

Coming down heavily on the Center over the alleged misuse of central agencies such as the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), CBI and the Income Tax Department against the Opposition leaders and parties, former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday said democracy was in ‘danger ‘.

Speaking to reporters after attending an event in support of Sangeeta Beniwal, the Congress’s Lok Sabha candidate from Rajasthan’s Pali, Gehlot said, “Our democracy is in danger, the Constitution is being throttled and people are distressed. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been remanded to judicial custody in the liquor policy case, started Wednesday morning by sweeping his prison cell with a broom at Delhi’s Tihar Jail, sources said.

Sources said that all under-trial prisoners at Tihar Jail have to clean their cells themselves.

According to Tihar sources, Kejriwal is absolutely healthy and jail doctors have not expressed any such concerns. Reportedly Aam Aadmi Party sources alleged that Kejriwal had lost a lot of weight since his arrest. (ANI)

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was sent to Tihar jail after a court remanded him in the judicial custody until April 15 in the excise policy scam, spent a “restless” night in Tihar jail but “did not complain” about the smaller space even though he could have faced some difficulty, sources in the Tihar jail informed.

The ED on Tuesday leveled fresh allegations of corruption against the AAP, saying a former Delhi Jal Board chief engineer had “transferred” ₹2 crore of bribe money to his colleagues in the department and the ruling party in Delhi as election funds.

“We, however, condemn the ED’s blatantly false allegation that AAP or its leaders have anything to do with this case. Not a single rupee or piece of evidence has been recovered from any of the AAP leaders, despite many raids by the ED,” the AAP claims.

Buoyed by the Supreme Court’s order granting bail to AAP MP Sanjay Singh, the Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday called it a “big day for democracy” and hoped its other leaders will also be out of jail and the “mountain of lies” created by the BJP will collapse in the coming days.

Soon after Singh got the relief from the apex court, several party leaders, including Saurabh Bharadwaj and Raghav Chadha, invoked lord Hanuman’s name.

“Today is a very emotional day for every ordinary party worker. The happiness from the release of our lion, Sanjay Singh, cannot be expressed in words, Jai bajrang bali,” Chadha said in a post in X in Hindi. (PTI)

The ED on Tuesday told the Delhi High Court that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was the “kingpin” and the “key conspirator” of the “excise scam” and there were “reasons to believe” on the basis of material in its possession that he was guilty of the offense of money laundering.

Opposing the AAP leader’s petition challenging his arrest by the agency in the money laundering case linked to the “scam”, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said the political party, which was the “major beneficiary” of the proceedings of the crime, has committed the offense through Kejriwal. (PTI)
