HAVELTE – From April 23 to May 12, the outdoor exhibition FEMICIDE can be seen at Access Gate Holtingerveld. To draw extra attention to the exhibition, Tessel ten Zweege, author of the book ‘Femicide’, ‘Til Death Do Us Part’, will give a lecture on Thursday, April 25.

The meeting starts at 5 p.m. and takes place at Brasserie Oer at Access Gate Holtingerveld. After a short introduction by councilor Jacob Boonstra, Tessel ten Zweege shares her knowledge and experience about femicide.

Every 8 days a woman is murdered in the Netherlands, often by her (ex) partner and almost always because she decides to leave the relationship. As many as 6 in 10 victims of femicide were killed by their (ex)partner.

The traveling exhibition ‘FEMICIDE’ tells the stories of twelve victims who were killed by their (ex-)partner, told by their relatives. The photos and candid stories make the horror of these murders palpable and show the lifelong impact on the surviving relatives.
