Do you have any special wishes?

‘No. Actually just that it all stays the way it is now. I will be 84 this summer. Liesbeth is 82, and we are both still healthy and living a good life. Then you are a blessed person, aren’t you? Last month we were married for sixty years, and those years have really flown by. We celebrated it with a dinner with our daughter Pascale and our three grandchildren. Pascale has two sons aged 26 and 23. If you think about the fact that we have been married for sixty years and are still happy together, that is quite something. What is our secret? I think mutual respect and letting each other out. We once met in the Scala Bodega, a pub that only opened after twelve. Ideal for my profession and also for Liesbeth’s. She then danced with the Dutch Ballet and later the National Ballet. That was all a long time ago, but it doesn’t feel that way at all! And I have to say that I remember very little of my children growing up. I was also always away, working. I didn’t attend a parents’ evening at school, Liesbeth had to do it all
