The children’s play week Speelland Noordwolde, which has been organized at the Nivon camping site on the Jokweg since 1966, is increasing the amount to participate for the first time in 22 years.

Treasurer Addo Damhuis: “For years we have been trying to stick to the 15 euro participation fee. For example, we recruit sponsors, our volunteers help the Vensterschool with collecting waste paper and we buy as much as possible in the offers, but the price increases also catch up with Speelland. This year we have a budget deficit for the first time and we are forced to increase the registration fee to 20 euros.”

Speelland works closely with the Leergeld Foundation to ensure that families with limited financial resources can also participate.

Activities

The Speelland program offers children a range of activities over five days at the Nivon camping site in Noordwolde. There are treasure hunts, a day at the pool, an excursion, a night trip, sports and craft activities, bouncy castles and a field kitchen. Every day starts and ends with a play.

Accompaniment

Speelland is still looking for leaders for the coming year; Currently 51 volunteers have signed up to help, but that is not enough. Children from the age of 15 can assist with various activities and from the age of 16 they can work as a group leader. Students also have the opportunity to earn credits by participating in the week.

Every year between 150 and 200 children can participate in the five-day game week. Registration will open this year on Saturday, May 18 at 9:00 am.
