UPDATEOn the night of December 18 to 19, 2021, Gheorghe C. (58) stabbed his fellow fruit picker Constantin (44) to death with 14 stab wounds. The man in his fifties admits that he took a fatal swing with the knife, but claims that he acted out of fear. “I am so sorry. I ask forgiveness,” he concluded in tears. According to his lawyer Gino Houbrechts, the accused was provoked like ‘David against Goliath’. But the jury judges differently. “When he determined that the victim was still alive after the first stab, he picked up the knife again.”
