Genesis Fresh’s Alizza Fruit Season 3 has been awarded the Three-Star Superior Taste Award by the International Taste Institute. Genesis Fresh realizes this together with Genesis Fresh. This summer marks the debut of Alizza Fruit from South Africa.

The Alizza Fruit combines the best of mandarin and grapefruit genetics grown by the multinational AmFresh Group in Spain and South Africa. “The Alizza Fruit is large, bright yellow and orange in color, smooth, has a thin skin and a melting, seedless pulp with a special taste,” says David Alba, Director of Genesis Fresh. “The large amount of juice in the fruit is surprising in combination with the delicious taste.”

Alizza Fruit is mainly available between December and March in citrus growing regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The fruit is available to consumers in both the summer and winter seasons and cultivation is being expanded into South Africa.

“We remember citrus grower Aliza Vardi who was the inspiration for this citrus,” said Patricia Sagarminaga, Group Director of Marketing and Communications at AmFresh Group. “The Alizza Fruit reflects its pioneering spirit and makes a lasting contribution to the citrus sector.” The Alizza Fruit was first introduced to the market in England, Germany and Spain in 2022.

Luis Miguel Lavado, Commercial Director of AmFresh Spain: “We see increasing demand from European wholesalers and retailers. The Alizza Fruit is attracting new consumers. The fruit has been positively accepted. It is one of the juiciest and tastiest citrus varieties recognized by the International Taste Institute in Brussels.”

The Alizza Fruit has additional properties revealed by analyzes carried out by the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Plants in Valencia (IBMCP). These contain high antibacterial and antimicrobial activity in the juice.

It is sold at European supermarket chains Tesco, Marks & Spencer (England), Edeka and REWE (Germany), El Corte Inglés and Eroski (Spain), Migros (Switzerland) and Italy. The retail price is €1.50 per piece in shops and wholesale markets. The Alizza Fruit has good quality and delicious taste.

Andre Russouw, Business Manager of Genesis Fresh in South Africa, said: “We are keen to introduce Alizza Fruit to consumers in South Africa. We are confident that the taste will positively impact consumers.”
