Police investigate death of ten dogs in luxury guesthouse in Woudenberg | Animals

A police spokesperson confirms to NU.nl that an investigation has been launched following a report. The police are not sharing substantive details at this time.

The incident took place in the Hondenhuys, a luxury hotel for dogs. The animals do not stay in cages during their visit, but in luxury apartments.

A spokesperson for the Hondenhuys reports to NU.nl that it is “terrible what has happened. First of all for the animals and our customers, but we are also devastated. This has never happened before. This situation is only known to losers.”

The dog boarding house also has its own investigation into what exactly went wrong in the apartment where the animals were kept. “The apartment in question is hermetically sealed. There are no more dogs there at the moment,” the spokesperson said. At the moment, many animals are still staying in the Hondenhuys: “It is holiday time, so high season.”

The dog boarding facility cannot say whether the owners of the deceased dogs will receive compensation. “We have never experienced this situation before,” the spokesperson said. “We will try to clarify in the coming days what we can and should do.”
