Three police officers were shot dead and five other officers were injured in the American city of Charlotte (North Carolina) on Monday. They were probably fired upon from a home when they wanted to arrest a fugitive man. Police report that after an hours-long shooting in the house, one suspect was found dead and two others are being interrogated in the home.

Police said on social media that a US Marshals team tracking down fugitives was trying to execute an arrest warrant nearby when shots were fired at the officers. “Several officers were hit by the shots and transported to the hospital.”
