D-day Wednesday for the women of OHL. They will play the first cup final in their history in front of their own people at den Dreef. For Julie Biesmans it will not be her first final. On the contrary…

“With Standard I can’t remember how many finals I played,” says the midfielder. “With PSV I played three finals and won one. And yes, now we are going for that first cup with OHL, right.”

The opponent in that final is Club YLA. Again… “It will be our fifth match against Blue and Black this season, our third in ten days. We don’t have many secrets from each other anymore. And yet it is a matter of waiting anxiously. How will they deal with us? I assume that we will no longer be surprised like last Saturday when we found ourselves trailing 2-0 after just ten minutes.”

Made the right choice

In any case, Biesmans does not regret her choice for OHL almost a year ago. “I ended up in a driven group here, with all girls who are not afraid of hard work and who go all the way. The cup win would be a nice reward for all the hard work that has been done here in recent years. No, we are not going to do anything special for the final or in preparation for the final. I think that’s good, because I’ve always been in favor of the idea that if something works well, it should stay that way.”

Nice extra for OHL: the final will be played in its own stadium. “Of course that is a bonus. I hope for a well-filled stadium with many supporters. I assume that all fans who traveled to Waregem in the semi-final will also be there on Wednesday.”

Van Dijk returns to his own country

Nikee van Dijk will leave OHL at the end of this season. The Dutch attacker will again play football in her own country, more specifically with FC Twente, currently leader in the Dutch premier league.
