The sales platform reports this. As of today, it is possible for users to directly buy or sell a product without any message exchange. The feature is being rolled out in phases, making it available to more and more people over the next two weeks.

A push on the button

With one push of the Direct Buy button, people can buy a product and payment and shipping are arranged within Marktplaats. “The Dutch consumer has become used to being able to buy something online at the touch of a button,” says Florence Schmit, general manager of Adevinta Benelux, the parent company of Marktplaats. “We make it even easier to trade on our platform and give things a second or third life.”

In addition, buyer protection automatically applies to purchases made via the Direct Buy button. Marktplaats thus offers a guarantee for the agreement. “By offering Instant Buy in combination with buyer protection, sellers show that they are reliable.”

Offer

The new service is available for items that can be sent via DHL or PostNL parcel services. The introduction of this new function does not mean the end of the bidding system. “For private Marktplaats users who do not have a fixed price in mind, the traditional bidding option remains active,” said Marktplaats.
