During the night to Wednesday there were already some heavy rain and thunderstorms in our country. Thunderstorms are possible in several places in the country today. You can read exactly how heavy the showers will turn out and where and when we expect them here.
Today it is again wonderful spring weather. It remains dry for a long time and the sun shines regularly. By the beginning of the afternoon, the temperature in the east and northeast may have already risen to summer values!
Chance of heavy thunderstorms, especially in the southeast
During the afternoon, cloud cover will gradually increase in the southeast of the country. In Limburg, cumulus clouds formed at the end of the afternoon, which gradually grew into several heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Several thunderstorms will develop over the southeast of the country at the beginning of the evening. During the evening, showers will move across the country via the northwest. The heaviest ones seem to be destined for Brabant and Limburg, but the center and the west should also expect some heavy (thunder) showers during the evening. During the showers there is a chance of hail, thunder and heavy wind gusts up to approximately 75 km/hour.
While the evening in the center and south of the country is quite stormy, in the north and northeast it is still wonderful spring weather. The evening will be dry and sunny here with temperatures reaching over 20 degrees by mid-evening.
Regional risk of flooding
In addition to thunder, hail and gusts of wind, the showers can also produce a lot of rain. Regionally, 20 mm of rain is possible and very locally, up to 40 mm of rain can fall in a short time. Local flooding is therefore certainly a possibility. For comparison: 40 millimeters is normally the amount of rain that falls in the south in an entire month of May.

Clearly less warm tomorrow
The showers also dissipate the heat. Today the temperature will initially rise considerably, but in the west cooler air will arrive in the afternoon. Tomorrow we will clearly be in somewhat colder air. From west to east it will be 12 to 15 degrees on Friday.
