Strong thunderstorms will pass over the country on Thursday evening and night. Code yellow has been issued by the KNMI in the southern half of the Netherlands.

The most intense thunderstorms are expected in Limburg, North Brabant and Utrecht. The intensity will have subsided in South Holland and Zeeland, but locally heavy showers may still pass through.

Code yellow

The KNMI warns of thunderstorms in six provinces. In South Holland, code yellow is in force between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. There is a warning for thunderstorms, possibly with gusts of wind, hail and a lot of rain in a short time.

In South Holland in particular, it is difficult to predict where exactly thunder will occur. The weather can change suddenly. People should take this into account when they are outside. Rijkswaterstaat also warns road users to be alert and adjust their driving style.
