Rotterdam – Today marks 22 years since Pim Fortuyn was murdered. On May 6, 2002, the fatal shots were fired at the Mediapark in Hilversum. Like every year, that black day is commemorated today in Rotterdam.

Rotterdam was then in shock. And many Rotterdam residents still have that fateful day so clearly on their minds that today people are once again remembering the man who caused a unique political landslide in our city and the rest of the Netherlands at the beginning of this century.

Today Pim Fortuyn is commemorated. After a visit to the cemetery in Driehuis and the fatal site in Hilversum, there will be a silent procession from 5 p.m. from Fortuyn’s old house on the GW Burgerplein in West to his statue on the Pim Fortuynplaats near the Schielandshuis. There will be two minutes of silence there at 6 p.m. There will be various speakers and the meeting will end with the laying of flowers.
