On May 6, 2002, Pim Fortuyn was murdered. Now, 22 years after his death, he is coming back to life. At least: his voice, which is reconstructed thanks to AI and with which Fortuyn posthumously narrates his own books. Crowdfunding for the project starts today.

Until his death, Fortuyn wrote many books about politics and society, many of which are still relevant today. To keep his legacy alive, audiobooks are being made using modern techniques of the most important part of his paper oeuvre: The orphaned society, The ruins of eight years of Purple, The Islamization of our culture and Pim Fortuyn: the autobiography.

This project is a collaboration between Vesper Publishing, XS2Content and the Fortuyn family. To finance the project, a crowdfunding campaign is being launched today. The goal of this crowdfunding is to raise €20,000, with which Fortuyn’s voice can be recreated as faithfully as possible using AI based on existing audio fragments, after which the four audiobooks will be produced.

Publisher Jonathan Ursem from Vesper Publishing: “Thanks to the rapid development of AI, it is now possible to train the voice of someone who is no longer alive in such a way that he can truthfully say things that were never spoken while alive, but only written down . This gives us the opportunity to posthumously release Fortuyn’s work as audiobooks, making it seem as if he read the books himself. This is an extremely careful process in which the Fortuyn family is involved and approves.”
