Pim Fortuyn might be heard again 22 years after his death, thanks to AI

--

Today a crowdsourcing campaign starts to convert Pim Fortuyn’s books into audiobooks. With the money they want to use the voice of Pim Fortuyn himself to narrate these books.

Today marks exactly 22 years since Pim Fortuyn was murdered at the Mediapark in Hilversum. It is therefore no coincidence that a crowdfunding campaign is launching today to bring Pim Fortuyn’s voice back to life.

AI your service

This is a project by Vesper Publishing, publisher of the Fortuyn books, the Fortuyn family and XS2Content. The latter is a start-up that, for example, converts written content into a podcast or video and vice versa.

When the target amount of 20,000 Euro is reached, Vesper Publishing will use existing audio fragments from Pim Fortuyn to train AI. When this is successful, Fortuyn’s works will be converted into audiobooks. This concerns the books The Orphan Society, The Ruins of Eight Years of Purple, The Islamization of Our Culture and Pim Fortuyn: the autobiography.

The Voor de Kunst platform is used for crowdfunding.

X2SContent carries out several of these types of projects, but usually does so with living people. For example, the company has a collaboration with radio DJ Erik de Zwart. When asked, X2SContent emphasizes that Pim Fortuyn’s voice will only be used for the audiobooks and not for other matters.
