According to parliamentarian Roy Mohan, the VHP has become a bromki dyari of all population groups in recent years. According to him, it is therefore the task of all VHP members to continue to maintain this bromki dyari.
“We have to preserve all the plants, all the flowers that we have in our dyari. And no one should take that away from us. We do not bind ethnic groups. We bind Surinamese people. The VHP binds Surinamese people,” Mohan said on Saturday evening during a warm-up mass meeting of the VHP in Commewijne.
The politician, who is also a doctor by profession, argued that everyone can feel safe under the cover of the umbrella of the Orange party. That cannot be said about other political parties that have caused the destruction of Suriname.
Mohan mentioned, among other things, the situation after the 2010 elections when the VHP was still negotiating with its then partners in Olifant headquarters to arrive at a new government formation. To the surprise of the VHP, these partners, referring to the ABOP, BEP and PL, walked away and formed a government with the Mega Combination of the NDP of Desi Bouterse.
“Today when they destroyed the country with other partners, no one says sorry. And we want to prevent that. That is why our president, the chairman of the VHP, has asked about those 28 seats,” said the VHP member.
The parliamentarian emphasized that the VHP takes a lot of effort to pull the current government forward. “So many challenges out there making decisions about moving forward. If you choose for the people to carry out projects, then it should not matter which political party you belong to. We choose Surinamese and Surinamese live everywhere. So wherever we carry out projects, they are for all Surinamese,” said Mohan, who also asked President Santokhi to pay extra attention to the drinking water problem in Commewijne.
