These fans joined in the PSV party: ‘How did we prepare? Ni’

--

They had to wait for years, but now the time has finally come: tens of thousands of PSV fans poured into Eindhoven on Monday to celebrate their champions. They are happy to explain what this championship means to them.

Jara and Cody from Gerwen
She makes memories with her brother Cody, Jara from Gerwen explains as they stand on Stadhuisplein. Together they also have a season ticket. Cody (22) has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. “We get the most out of life,” she says. He is now sitting beaming in his wheelchair. “That’s what we do it for,” says Jara. For Cody it is his first championship that he has experienced so closely. “This is super!”

Danée and Mila from Helmond
They are ready around eleven in the morning: Danée and Mila from Helmond are at the ceremony with their father. The eleven-year-old twin sisters arrived early this morning and this time they didn’t have to go to school. “And yesterday we also watched the match in the city. We weren’t home that late, but today I think we were.”

Kai and his father Lennard
Kai stands at the front of the Stadhuisplein with his father. They were in town at half past eight on Sunday morning, watched the game and went to sleep right away. This morning at eleven o’clock they were already on Stadhuisplein, but they were sent away: ‘Come back at two o’clock’, was the message.

And so it happened. They forgot one thing: earplugs. But paper also works well. Father and son come from the Leiden area. Why PSV then? Kai points to his father: “Because of him.” His father laughs: “I was always a supporter of Feyenoord and a fan of Ruud Gullit. He left for PSV, so I also chose PSV.”

Willem from Best
“How did we prepare? Not!”, shouts Willem Best (second from the top left in the photo). Although they do conjure up soft drinks, beer and candy from a backpack. The offspring were allowed to come along today, the two adults of the group have been preparing for today all weekend. “Stadhuisplein is already full, which is a shame. But we are having fun,” thinks Ron.

Ivar and Luuk
Eindhoven father Ivar is in Eindhoven for the second day with his nine-year-old son Luuk. That hat? “I got that from someone here,” says the nine-year-old boy. He easily sings along to all the PSV songs.
