Three cheers for the little one Archie! The son of Harry and Meghan is already blowing out five candles today. Archie – unlike his parents – leads a quiet life far away from the spotlight, and not much is shared about him. But what do we actually know about the little prince?

Birth of Archie

On May 6, 2019, Harry and Meghan couldn’t believe their luck. Their first child then sees the light of day: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. He was born in London as the first half-American baby in the British royal family and is sixth in line to the throne. Archie is born in England, but it isn’t long before his parents wave goodbye to the palace walls and leave for the United States. The little prince then grows up in sunny California. His sister will also be born there in June 2021 Lilibet born.

Out of the spotlight

Archie is now five years old and apart from a few photos here and there, we have been able to see very little of the royal boy’s life. It is clear that H&M want to keep their kids out of the spotlight. Yet every now and then they tell something about Archie and Lilibet when they show up at a prestigious occasion.

In February this year, Harry was in preparation for The Invictus Games in Vancouver, Canada. There the prince rarely spoke about his children. “They are doing great,” he said at the time. “Like all children, they grow up very quickly. They both have an incredible sense of humor. They make us laugh and keep us grounded every day.” Then he concluded: “I am very grateful to be a father.”

New surname

Anyway: with that love for Archie and Lilibet, the Sussexes are doing well. But the ties with the royal family are still nothing to write home about, and that also affects the kids. Yet earlier this year, to everyone’s surprise, it was announced that Harry and Meghan had changed Archie and Lilibet’s last names. While they were given Mountbatten-Windsor as their surname at birth, they are now called Archie of Sussex and Lilibet of Sussex.

A striking event, according to royal family expert Tirza van der Graaf. “At first they wanted their children to grow up in the shelter as much as possible, without titles. While Prince Harry and Meghan now give the name they received upon their marriage: Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The couple may want to make it clear that they form one family, with royal titles.”

Of course, we don’t know exactly what the life of Archie and sister Lilibet looks like, but according to… insiders things are peaceful in Montecito. We got a small one last year sneak peek:

From baking zucchini muffins to feeding the chickens and lazing on the nearby beach: the kids lead a seemingly idyllic life. Add to that a set of gifts and a big cake and Archie is sure to have a great birthday today. Heartily!
