WEAR INSIGNIA GOLD WITH BRILLIANT AWARDED TO ORGANIST NICO BLOM

GORINCHEM – During the church service of May 5, 2024 in the Johanneskerk, Gorcum organist Nico Blom was decorated with the badge Gold with brilliant. This badge is issued by the Protestant Church of the Netherlands and can be awarded to people who have been active in this community for more than 40 years.

Organist for 45 years

Nico played his first church service at the age of fifteen. And he still does that to this day. As head organist of the Johanneskerk, he provides an essential musical element in the worship services with expert organ playing. His organ playing is characterized by musically expressive text representations of church songs.

Badge 2024

In 2020, Nico’s 40th anniversary was already awarded a royal distinction as a Member of the Order of Orange Nassau. This year he received the gold medal with brilliant from the church. A second award, this time awarded from within the church ranks.

Organ promotion

Organist Nico Blom is not unknown in Gorinchem and the surrounding area. He is head organist at the Johanneskerk and team organist at the Grote and Lutheran Churches in Gorinchem. He is also the organizer of the successful series of Organ Concerts in the Lutherse Schuilkerk. The start of this Saturday afternoon series is on August 4 and continues until the final concert by Nico Blom on August 24.
