REGION – There were traffic jams in many places in and around Rotterdam on Friday. This is because the A16 near Terbregseplein is closed due to construction work and due to several accidents on the road.
It is, among other things, fixed on the routes through the city via the Maastunnel and the Erasmus Bridge. Because the A16 is closed throughout the Ascension weekend, many road users use the center of Rotterdam as a shortcut to get to the other side of the city.
Crowded traffic on highways
It is also blocked in several places on the highways. For example, it is completely stuck on the diversion route: that is the A15 south of Rotterdam, towards the Benelux junction. In addition, several internal roads are blocked, including in Ridderkerk.
Accidents also happened in some places. For example, an accident involving a truck occurred on the A15 near Sliedrecht in the direction of Gorinchem. Two lanes were closed as a result. From Papendrecht you came towards Rotterdam in a traffic jam at Alblasserdam.
A traffic jam has also arisen on the A20. Two lanes are closed from Hoek van Holland towards Gouda due to an accident.
Activities A16
The A16 will be closed until 5:00 AM on Monday morning, May 13. This all has to do with tackling the viaduct over the Hoofdweg, near Terbregseplein.
