Victor Abeln will stop working as a bartender ‘temporarily’ First Dates. He announced this on Monday in a video on Instagram. Abeln is going on a world trip and that is why the dating program is looking for someone who wants to take over from him. “If you are the nicest bartender in the Netherlands and you want and can follow in my shoes, then sign up.”
In a video, Abeln looks back on no fewer than 4,000 dates and ‘beautiful, moving, funny, emotional conversations’ and then announces that he will stop working as a bartender at the love show ‘for the time being’. So BNNVara is looking for someone who wants to take over Abeln’s bow while he travels. “Because we will of course continue to look for the most beautiful love stories,” says Abeln, who last appeared in the winter of 2024-2025. First Dates will be visible.
BNNVara opened registration for the ‘new Victor’ on Monday. Candidates can register via the website First Dates. The broadcaster could not yet say on Monday when registration will end and how exactly the selection will proceed. However, the broadcaster strongly states that it is looking for a ‘bar person’ instead of a bartender.
In love with Victor
As the bartender on the show, Abeln himself is not looking for love, but many viewers fell in love with him. He was so popular that he had his own YouTube series, in which women could go on dates with him. He received no fewer than five thousand messages.
“It’s great fun to read everything, but it’s also intimidating in a way. People who write entire poems for you even though they don’t know you. Women who claim you as if you were public property,” Abeln said.
