The Mobility and Public Works Committee has approved the draft decree to have re-inspections carried out at recognized repairers. That leaves the Flemish Minister of Mobility Lydia Peeters know.
A five-year pilot project is planned, which can be extended for another five years. This means that certain re-inspections can be carried out by recognized inspectors at recognized repairers, instead of at a car inspection center.
This mainly concerns re-inspections that do not involve measuring equipment. “Such as defects in tires, mirrors, lights and windows. In addition, re-inspections that require measuring equipment may also fall under the pilot project. This includes the adjustment of the dipped beam headlights.”
“We mainly remove a lot of annoyance from citizens,” says Peeters. “After all, the system becomes much more logical by making repair and re-inspection possible in one go.”
Inspection at the garage
“In addition, in certain places, thanks to the previously approved system of decentralized inspections, it will also be possible to even have the periodic inspection take place at the garage.”
