History

GORINCHEM An appraisal afternoon will take place in the Gorinchem library on Tuesday, May 21. Appraiser Arie Molendijk values old books there, such as old (state) Bibles, atlases, illustrated works and travel books, manuscripts, old letters, photos, postcards and prints.

The nationally known appraiser has been working with the Vrije Universiteit, the Royal Library and other libraries and government institutions for years. He is regularly asked to value libraries prior to an auction.

Molendijk: “The valuations I make are, if possible, based on recent returns of comparable material at auctions. The valuations only take place on my valuation days, so not via photos, telephone or email.”

The costs for an appraisal are five euros for one to approximately ten books or series works. The valuation costs of larger collections/libraries, which take more time, vary from 25 to fifty euros. “You always receive full attention and explanation. A valuation report is also possible if necessary, but only for valuable books with a value of two hundred euros or more and at a rate agreed in advance.”

Visitors are very welcome and will be warmly received in the library, Groenmarkt 1 on Tuesday, May 21 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Free walk-in without appointment. For more information and other valuation days, see: www.molendijkboeken.nl.
