Gosh,

Of course, the most important thing that is not really talked about is making repairs “affordable”.

It’s all well and good that you are “allowed” to replace the ball bearings on your washing machine, for example, but if they are in a glued tub, you not only have to replace the ball bearings and seal (20-50 euros in parts), but the entire tub. with drum !!!! (average 400-600 euros at Bosch/Siemens, 800-1000 euros at Miele!!!!!!!!)

They must ensure that you can “easily” replace only the necessary part, and this must also be “affordable” and preferably a “standard” part.

example of drain pumps, almost all brands of washing machines contain pumps from the manufacturer ASKOLL, one for Siemens, for example, costs 20 euros, and the SAME pump for Miele costs, for example, 100 euros, and the only difference, a different connector or different mounting location !! !!

Another pathetic example of reducing quality;

Previously in washing machine, 3 valves (spray directly into the soap dispenser in the correct channel, prewash, main wash and fabric softener) never had any problems, sometimes a broken part, replaced quickly and cheaply.
After a while, 2 valves more, to then spray fabric softener into the container, they go together and spray the jets against each other to take a corner, the result, after 5-15 years of problems, a little limescale appears in 1 valve and then the corner is no longer good, spray next to it, an unnecessary faster repair is needed, just so that the manufacturer can save 1 valve.
Today (for example Miele), 1 !!! valve, and then an electric motor with an electronic control module (yes indeed IN THE SOAP DISH WITH ALL THAT WATER) and the motor switches to where the valve will spray.
Result, defect within 5-10 years, but not just the valve, no, the entire top of the soap dish needs to be replaced, costs between 150-250 euros!!!!!!!

Same with, in my opinion, very STUPID energy labels in Europe,
I am in favor of less consumption, of course, but NOT if this detracts from the quality and especially the lifespan of the devices,

example refrigerators and freezers;

Previously, a compressor that consumed 60 watts, for example, never had any problems, lasted an average of 30 years and longer. If it breaks down, put in a new compressor (costs between 50 and 100 euros) and we can continue for another 30 years.

Now, a compressor that only consumes 20 Watts on average, power is controlled by an electronic module with a fan, result, if you do not regularly remove the dust from the back of your refrigerator/freezer, you can have problems after 5 years, module defective, costs in some cases 200-400 euros!!! If you regularly remove the dust, it can take 10-15 years for the weak compressor to die.

What is best, a refrigerator/freezer that will do its job for 20-30 years and yes, which will consume 100-200 kWh more in a year, or a refrigerator/freezer that is more expensive to purchase to begin with? , which consumes 100-200kWh less, but which you can replace after 5-10 maximum 15 years? so 2 to 3 times as many devices were produced (requires a lot of energy), transported from China (by steamboat on dirty oil) and then recycled the extra devices (with some luck here, with some bad luck, back on the boat and somewhere in China/India burned to extract the metals!!!)

Which of the two options are best for the environment??

But above all, which of these two options is the most interesting for the manufacturers’ lobby?? , sell sell sell and then we put a “good for the environment” sauce on it
