All you have to do is scroll around on TikTok and book recommendations will come flooding back to you. Maybe you can’t see the forest for the trees and that’s why I’m giving you my unvarnished opinion about viral TikTok books. This week, Ana Huang’s Twisted series is in the spotlight.

Twisted series

The Twistedseries by Ana Huang consists of four different books; Twisted Love, Twisted Games, Twisted Hate and Twisted Lies. Books that stand alone well, but reading the entire series is even more fun. All the books overlap somewhat in terms of storyline, because they always discuss a different friend from a group of friends.

Ready for some excitement? It is best to read these thrillers in one sitting

Twisted Love

This is how you follow in the book Twisted Love Ava Chen, who gets stuck with Alex Volkov when her brother orders his best friend to babysit her. They are two opposites that attract each other, but once the two fall for each other, secrets from the past are released that could be their downfall for both.

  • Lots of spicy scenes
  • Beautiful romance in the book
  • His/hers point of view
  • Characters from the other books appear in it
  • A very slow burner
  • The sometimes very stubborn Alex

Personally, I thought this was a wonderful book. It took me a while to get used to it at first, as it is quite a slow burner. But once the two fall for each other, the spicy scenes start flying around your head. But it’s not just about sex that this is a book you won’t be able to put down. The romance that blossoms between Ava and Alex makes you believe that true love still exists.

Twisted Games

In Twisted Games you follow Princess Bridget von Ascheberg. Because the wife of her old bodyguard is pregnant, she is forced to hire a new bodyguard. She doesn’t feel like it, until she finds out that her new bodyguard is Rhys Larsen. An attractive man of steel with only two rules: protect his clients at all costs and not become emotionally involved. And he’s never been tempted to break those rules… until he meets her. Irritations quickly spill over into love and this unexpected and forbidden love is one that can destroy a kingdom.

  • Forbidden love
  • The soft and hard side of Rhys
  • His/hers point of view
  • Characters from other books appear in it
  • Annoying characters in the book

I definitely recommend this second book in the Twisted series. The forbidden love in the book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. In addition, it creates even more tension and secret romantic gestures that would make any woman melt (I know I did). And in addition to being a beautiful romantic story, it is also a beautiful insight into the life of royalty. Who would not want that?

Twisted Hate

Who doesn’t love a good love-hate romance? Then you’re stuck Twisted Hate entirely right. In this book you follow Jules Ambrose and Josh Chen (yes, the brother of Ava Chen from Twisted Love) and the two can’t stand each other. But it turns out: even the biggest enemies can fall in love…

  • Lots of humor (laughed out loud!!)
  • His/hers point of view
  • One of the best enemies to lovers ever
  • Characters from other books appear in it
  • SPICYYYYYY
  • Some chapters would not have been necessary

After reading this book I knew for sure: this was the best Twisted book in the series so far. A delicious enemies to lovers with spicy scenes that will make you want to throw the book to the other side of your room. It felt almost illegal to read at times, but I kept reading anyway. And in addition to the romance and countless spicy scenes, I also really liked the storyline in the book. Definitely recommended!

Twisted Lies

In Twisted Lies you follow Stella Alonso, a romantic who is completely done with love. Despite her fame on social media, she is shy and a true introvert, but that certainly does not make her any less striking. Christian Harper, the owner of the building she lives in, is completely obsessed with her. And when her job causes her to… “fake boyfriend” she opens herself up to perhaps the most dangerous man she has ever met. But will their love tainted by lies survive?

  • You can easily get around in Stella
  • His/hers point of view
  • How obsessed Christian is with Stella
  • The spicy scenes
  • Characters from other books appear in it
  • All lies
  • Stella’s stalker

The final book in the Twisted series, Twisted Lies, is also one of my favorites. A book in which you can more easily empathize with the female main character. In addition, I hope that I will one day meet a man who is as obsessed with me as Christian is with Stella, because omg. Compared to the two middle books, it is a bit more of a slow burner, but I think Stella and Christian’s love story is more than worth the wait. Definitely recommended!

Where do you get these books?

Although many people nowadays prefer to read their books online, I prefer to have a paper book in my hands. And the entire Twistedseries can be purchased via this link on Bol.com. But the books can also often be rented from libraries, making them sustainable. My own library didn’t have all the books in English, so I rented half and bought half. And perhaps another nice tip: many of these books are also resold on Vinted. Here you can often score them for a nice price and resell them yourself once you have read them. Enjoy reading!
