Unilever sees sales volumes slowly increasing. In recent years, the company behind Dove, Ola and Calvé, among others, has seen turnover increase mainly due to price increases. Unilever now also sells more care products and household products.

Unilever’s sales volume has increased for the second quarter in a row. In the first three months of this year, the company sold 2.2 percent more products.

Turnover increased by 4.4 percent to 15 billion euros. This is after adjustment for the sale of business units and exchange rates.

Unilever sold 5.6 percent more beauty products, 1.4 percent more care products and 4.3 percent more household products, such as soap. The number of products sold in the food and ice cream departments is still declining.

Topman wants to speed up with new plans

Unilever’s sales are improving worldwide. Previously, consumers still cut back on company brand products. But in Europe, and especially the Netherlands and Germany, sales continue to decline.

According to CEO Hein Schumacher, who was appointed last year, Unilever owes the revival partly to several strong brands such as Dove, Knorr, Rexona and Sunsilk. The Dutchman emphasized in the quarterly report that he is accelerating with his plans to improve Unilever’s performance.

This includes the recently announced reorganization. Unilever will cut 7,500 jobs. The company is also splitting off the ice cream division, with brands such as Ola and Ben & Jerry’s. This happens after mediocre performances in recent years.
