Electric Toyota bZ3C: in the Netherlands in 2025

Toyota has introduced two completely new electric models: the Toyota bZ3C and the bZ3X. The pair makes their debut on the Auto China exhibition floor in Beijing, but that certainly does not mean that there is no relevance for our market. In fact, the Toyota bZ3C will also come to Europe and therefore also to the Netherlands in 2025!

How can we be so sure of that? Last year, Toyota presented the bZ Sport Crossover Concept and the bZ FlexSpace Concept during the same Chinese car show. The bZ Sport Crossover Concept was the preview of the now unveiled Toyota bZ3C, the bZ FlexSpace Concept served as a precursor to the bZ3X. At the end of last year, Toyota also lifted the bZ Sport Crossover Concept onto the podium in Europe. It immediately said that a production model derived from that concept car will be launched in Europe in 2025. Now that the production version has been presented in China as the Toyota bZ3C, we immediately know what that EV will look like here too.

Although we do not expect the Toyota bZ3C that we present to you in this article to look very different in Europe, it is possible that the European variant will differ in detail – or in name – from this variant. There are no extensive technical specifications for the bZ3C. We do know that the EV was not only developed by Toyota. BYD, Toyota’s Chinese joint venture partner FAW and Intelligent ElectroMobility R&D Center by Toyota have also been involved in the development. Also striking: Toyota indicates that it has opted for one in terms of design Reboot. So a restart. In terms of style, the bZ3C is more in the direction of cars like the Prius and C-HR than that of the bZ4X. This means that Toyota models that are also available with combustion engines and the brand’s cars that are available purely as EVs appear to be becoming more similar.

The bZ3C is not the first electric Toyota with ‘bZ3’ in its name. In 2022, it launched the bZ3 in China, a 4.73 meter long electric sedan that was still covered in a bZ4X-like design.

Toyota bZ3X

The bZ3 family is being expanded in China with another new model: the Toyota bZ3X. Like the bZ4X, this is a more SUV-like model. This electric Toyota was also developed together with Chinese partners. Not FAW, but GAC was involved in its development. We also don’t have any specifications for the Toyota bZ3X yet. Will this electric Toyota also come to Europe? Who knows. Officially nothing is known about this, but it is of course not completely unthinkable.
