Scania will build a new building at Gasthuisdijk in Zwolle, housing Scania Netherlands, Scania Production Zwolle and Scania Logistics Netherlands. A building with an area of 25,000 m2 will be built on a plot of approximately 45,000 m2.

Scania Netherlands is moving its Central Delivery Workshop (CDW) from the Kleefstraat location to the Gasthuisdijk. Scania Production Zwolle is expanding its Fit For Use activities at the new location and Scania Logistics Netherlands is using 10,000 m2 of new space for its warehousing. The municipality of Zwolle recently granted the permit for the new construction.

Sustainability plays an important role

In addition to good working facilities and accessibility for employees, sustainability also plays an important role. The new building will be equipped with the latest technologies to heat, ventilate, light and supply the building with water. Solar panels, LED lighting, modern underfloor heating and energy-efficient workshop equipment are just a few examples of the sustainable solutions that will be chosen.

Scania Netherlands’ new Central Delivery Workshop (CDW) will occupy 10,000 m2 of the new building. The CDW is currently located on Kleefstraat in Zwolle – as part of the Scania dealer branch there – but there is no possibility to expand the building at that location to enable the necessary growth.

In addition, a location closer to the production facilities on the Russenweg offers the opportunity to avoid unnecessary kilometers on the A28. This is not only more efficient, but also reduces CO2 emissions and possibly highway congestion. The CDW will use the existing parking facility for trucks at the new location.

In the CDW, the trucks are prepared after production in the factory for delivery to the end customer via the Dutch Scania dealer branches. The CDW currently employs approximately 70 FTEs.

Scania Logistics Netherlands directs the logistics flows of all parts for Scania worldwide. The logistics hub in the Netherlands controls Central European and intercontinental suppliers from Zwolle and Hasselt (Ov). Scania’s growth requires more capacity to manage the supply chain.

Work for 200 FTEs

With all activities, the new location will provide employment for approximately 200 FTEs. This includes additional FTEs due to the growth of the activities. The new building will be put into use in the second quarter of 2025.
