It is the fourth A321neo to be put into service for Transavia. The three previously delivered Airbuses are leased from ALC. Owned and leased devices can easily be distinguished from each other by the last letter of the registration: the former start at the beginning of the alphabet (PH-YHA), the leased ones at the end (PH-YHZ, YHY, YHX).

The price fighter is replacing the Boeing 737s with the Airbuses. They are larger (232 versus 189 seats), quieter and more economical. Later, Transavia also wants to put the smaller A320neo into service (sister company Transavia France already has it), but it looks like the majority of the 737s will be replaced by the largest Airbus narrowbody. In any case, this year there will only be A321neos.

Transavia CEO Marcel de Nooijer. “We are not running away from our responsibility to fly cleaner, quieter and more economically. In four months we have already phased in four new aircraft. Airbus numbers five and six will follow before the summer. Seven and eight will arrive at the end of this year. The pace at which we are renewing our fleet through this billion-dollar investment is unprecedented.”

Eight more Airbuses will follow next year and more than half of Transavia’s Schiphol fleet will consist of the latest generation of aircraft. Later they will also be stationed in Rotterdam, Eindhoven and Brussels. Parent company KLM expects the first A321neo at Schiphol next summer. It is now expected to be put into service in mid-September.

Just like the 737s, Transavia’s Airbuses have a bright green interior. However, according to the company, there is slightly more shoulder room due to the wider torso. In addition, the devices have extra large luggage bins and USB C ports for charging mobile equipment.
