There is ‘not much joy’ in the documentary ‘Let it Be’. This is what ex-Beatle Ringo Starr (83) says in an interview with ‘Associated Press’, prior to the new version of the 1970 documentary, which can be streamed on Disney+ from May 8. Ringo thinks director Peter Jackson (62) has done an “incredible job”, but “for me there is not much joy in it.”

“It was all focused on one moment that took place between two of the guys, Paul McCartney and George Harrison”

The ex-Beatle believes that the documentary was made from the director’s point of view, not from the band’s. The new film features restored footage of the four famous artists working on their twelfth and final studio album in January 1969 in London. Rehearsals on Savile Row and the iconic rooftop concert can also be seen. That turned out to be the last performance of the four members as a group.

He also shared similar sentiments about the film in 2021. “It was all focused on one moment that took place between two of the guys, Paul McCartney and George Harrison,” he said at the time. “The rooftop concert was also only about seven to eight minutes long, compared to 43 minutes in the documentary.”
