Jon Bon Jovi considers Shania Twain his ‘spirit sister’ when it comes to his voice problems. The rocker has had problems with his vocal cords for years and discovered that he and the country singer, who previously experienced the same problems, had been treated by the same doctor.
Twain underwent surgery in 2018 to correct her vocal cord problems. Bon Jovi had the same surgery with the same doctor two years ago. The American says that the Canadian was his example in this. “She was the only person I knew who had undergone this operation. The only reason I found out was because she said it in the media,” the singer told the magazine People.
The singer was also a source of support for her colleague during the procedure. “She not only assured me that everything would be fine, but she also helped me a bit by saying that I would be back to work faster,” says Bon Jovi. “She told me that because she knew that otherwise I might back down. I couldn’t wait to have the operation.”
According to Bon Jovi, he is still working on his recovery process every day. The ultimate goal, performing several days a week for thousands of fans, is still out of sight, according to the 62-year-old singer. “I can sing, but what I can’t quite do yet is sing for 2.5 hours in an evening four days a week. But I aim to get that back.”
