Two of the biggest rappers in the world are fighting in front of the world, what’s going on? | Show

Two of the biggest rappers in the world have a huge argument and are fighting it out in front of the world. The saga between Kendrick Lamar and Drake is developing at breakneck speed, leading to accusations of pedophilia. What is the argument actually about, and are their fans waiting for it?

They’re busy, Kendrick Lamar and Drake. In recent days, the hip-hop greats have released a song almost every day in which they denigrate each other. And that goes far, very far. Drake accuses Lamar of domestic violence, Lamar suggests that his rival has slept with underage girls. This explosive allegation did not come out of nowhere. The feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has been going on for years. The two are by no means newcomers to the hip-hop world, and what started as a promising collaboration – the rappers made music together and Lamar was the opening act for Drake in 2012 – has now given way to bitter rivalry.

It is not unusual for rappers to fight each other out (verbally or physically). In the 1990s, the rivalry between Tupac Shakur and The Notorious BIG colored the hip-hop world. That feud got terribly out of hand, even resulting in deaths. For Kendrick Lamar and Drake, the first cracks in their relationship appeared about twelve years ago, due to their different attitudes towards wealth and fame. While Lamar shared little about his personal life on social media, Drake liked to brag about his luxurious lifestyle. Lamar discussed this openly in interviews, hinting that he felt that flaunting money and fame was too easy, and that his own music was about more important things.

Shit

The rappers have been throwing mud at each other for years with phrases in their music, but the affairs never actually got out of hand. Until October 2023, when Drake releases his album For all the dogs releases. The number is on it First person shooter, a collaboration between Drake and rapper J Cole. In that song, the latter suggests that he, Drake and Lamar are ‘the big three’ of the current hip-hop era. The record became a hit in the United States and even ensured that Drake now has as many number 1 hits in the US as Michael Jackson ever had.

Lamar reacts – months later, that is – as if stung by a wasp. “There’s no big three, there’s just me,” he raps. A few weeks ago, Drake bit back and rapped that Lamar isn’t as big of a rapper as he thinks. Shortly afterwards he retrieves the song that has now been taken offline Taylor made freestyle again to the artist and raps that Lamar mainly owes his popularity to Taylor Swift, referring to the collaboration of the two on the hit Bad Blood.

Lamar isn’t going to let Drake get away with that quietly. Last week he released two songs in three days – Euphoria and 6:16 in LA – in which he expresses his hatred for Drake. Lamar calls Drake a “manipulator and an outright liar” and says he doesn’t like Drake’s use of the n-word. He warns of someone in Drake’s immediate circle who would forward sensitive information to Lamar.

Secret daughter

Drake does not leave it at that, and so the feud is fought out even further in public. For example, he raps that Lamar would abuse his partner, who also had an illegitimate child. Half an hour later, Lamar is ready with his answer and he also decides to draw the family card. In Meet the Grahams he claims, among other things, that Drake has a secret daughter and is struggling with multiple addictions. He also calls Drake a ‘predator’ and compares the rapper to Harvey Weinstein. A day later he adds even more fuel to the fire and insinuates in yet another new song that Drake is a pedophile.

The most recent song in this feud is from Drake: The Heart Part 6. Besides the curious claim that he deliberately spread false information for Lamar to use, he spends most of the song denying that he sleeps with underage girls. He even addresses a controversial incident from 2018, when Stranger Thingsactress Millie Bobby Brown, then 14 years old, stated in an interview that she texted the rapper about boys.

It is the first song in which the defensive approach is chosen, because Drake does not come up with any new allegations against Lamar. It is difficult to say whether this means that the argument will slowly fade away. The feud does the rappers no harm, because the tracks appeared in various charts. The last two songs have now been listened to more than twenty and fourteen million times on YouTube. If it is up to the fans of the two, the hatchet is far from being buried.
