After a long musical silence, Maan is back and starting a new chapter in her career. “Lost in the traffic and road signs in Japan, one thing became very clear to me: maybe I will take a different approach. The voice that I have suppressed for so long is finally getting room to speak,” Maan tells the magazine. “It’s not that I don’t like my old music anymore, but I’ve outgrown it.”
Over the past year she has taken the time to work on herself. In this way she has reflected, traveled and rediscovered her creative vision. “I have found that it is good to zoom out, to get back to basics, especially when the world around you turns up the volume.”
Maan has given herself the freedom to literally ‘disconnect’. She previously indicated that she would not perform this year, after which several fans became concerned. According to the singer, that was absolutely not necessary. “Things are going better than ever,” she said on Instagram.
Together with the release of her new song, the video clip will also be released on YouTube.
A year ago, Maan won the Rigter Scale for her song ‘Stiekem’ with Goldband, which was released in 2022: the prize for the most played Dutch song on 3FM. In the video below you can see how the boys from Goldband, including Maan’s friend Karel, surprise her with the prize.
