It has been restless for several days around Zamenhofdreef in the Utrecht district of Overvecht. Officers were pelted with eggs and fireworks by a large group of young people, and fires were also set. According to a police spokesperson, no one has been arrested so far.

“There have been disturbances around Zamenhofdreef in Utrecht for several days now. The police are now being deployed to restore calm and make the area safe again,” the police wrote on X on Friday evening around 11:20 PM. A little later it was said that calm had returned and that the deployment was scaled down.

The police spokesperson cannot yet say anything about a possible cause of the unrest. In other media it can be read that it started earlier this week after a chase. The spokesperson can confirm that officers were pelted and that fires were also set. On a video on Dumpert you can also see that a bus shelter is being demolished in Overvecht.

According to the spokesperson, no one has been arrested so far. The police will be extra alert in the coming days in the area around the shopping center on Zamenhofdreef.
