Anyone who wants to work for Disney had better follow the rules. Sophia Dottir (21) experienced this firsthand. The American took on the role of Snow White in the Disney park in Orlando. According to her, some photos on social media ensured that she was thanked for services rendered

Sophia Dottir was still over the moon. As part of her internship in the Disney College Program, she was able to join the team at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. As Snow White she gave children the time of their lives during encounters with the Disney characters. But her time at The Walt Disney Company came to an abrupt end.

According to Sophia, some photos she shared online were the reason for her dismissal. It concerns a photo showing how she was dressed as Snow White as a child. The same post included two more photos of Dottir working as Snow White at Akershus, a Disney World restaurant where visitors can dine with various princesses. “Some things are just meant to be,” she captioned the photos.

Ruining magic

But that turned out to be against the strict rules that apply to what actors can reveal about the roles they play. They are absolutely not allowed to post anything on social media about themselves playing the characters. That would ‘ruin the magic’. Sophia claims she was “subjected to investigation” for “violating character integrity,” only to be fired immediately afterwards.

According to the American press, Disney has not yet responded to the incident. But although certain media write that the character Snow White would no longer be visible in the park ‘until further notice’, this appears not to be the case. The role is now being filled by another actress. So fans can still take a photo with Snow White.
