Radio DJ Edwin Evers made a bizarre discovery on Thursday. An unknown man appeared to have been sleeping in a guest room above his garage for weeks. The police arrested the man.

Evers told the story in his program on Friday Evers & Co on Radio 538. Three weeks ago, Evers’ cleaning lady had already noticed that there was a mess in the guesthouse. It is separate from his house, above the garage. When Evers went to take a look himself, it did indeed look as if someone had been asleep.

At that moment, Evers didn’t think about it for long. “I said: that’s not possible, because no one has slept there.” The mess has been cleaned up and Evers has not thought about the moment anymore.

Until he saw someone walking on his property on Thursday on security camera footage. “I’m working in the studio, look at the camera and see someone I don’t know walking behind the garage. I’m terrified.”

At that moment Evers realizes what is going on. He makes the connection with the dirty bedroom. It also explains another strange situation five weeks earlier. Then Evers saw a man standing in front of his house on security footage in the middle of the night.

After Thursday’s discovery, Evers immediately called the police. He knows how to arrest the man. It turned out that he had spent the night in the room for almost five weeks. “We came upstairs and the shower was still warm,” says Evers. “The bed was made and the intruder had neatly hung up his towel.”

‘Sad story’

At first Evers was angry, but that soon gave way to a feeling of compassion. “This was a confused individual who had no shelter.”

That is also the reason Evers tells the story on the radio. “It is a sad story. A lot is said that psychological care is not in order, with waiting lists and so on. Some people need urgent help. This was such a person.”
