Employees of the University of Groningen will no longer receive reimbursement for a laptop or tablet. The university will now offer the equipment to employees itself. On Thursday, March 28, the University Council will discuss the topic ‘Hybrid working @ the RUG is here to stay.’ The Ukrant reports this.
University employees are now allowed to declare a laptop or tablet that they purchase themselves once every four years. There are a number of requirements attached to this. The maximum claim amount for a laptop is 500 euros and for a tablet, employees are reimbursed approximately 260 euros. The employee pays the remaining amount himself if the laptop turns out to be more expensive.
Abolish the laptop scheme
The Executive Board (CVB) wants this to end. A working group should be set up to examine how the laptop scheme can be abolished in the short term.
Sufficient laptops and tablets
In order to be able to implement the new plant, the RUG must first acquire enough computers and tablets itself. That is why a concrete date will have to wait a while.
