We are investigating how we can improve public transport and enable additional housing construction. We want to prevent overload around Utrecht Central Station, Utrecht Science Park and make new and existing living and working locations in Utrecht more accessible.

We are investigating how we can best do this as the government, province and municipalities together in the U Ned program.

What are we investigating?

  • A possible new (partly underground) tram connection, the ‘Merwedelijn’.
  • The possible relocation of the tram line along Kanaleneiland to Papendorp, the ‘Papendorp line’ (depending on what exactly the possible Merwede line will look like).
  • Running the existing Tram Line 22 more often during rush hour for large traveler groups to and from Utrecht Science Park.
  • The construction of a possible second bus lane at the Utrecht Science Park.
  • Flow measures for the Waterlinieweg to see how we can allow buses to move through more quickly.

We now have an overview of the first effects of these possible solutions. Consider the possible impact on the environment when constructing a new public transport line. To this end, U Ned is organizing three drop-in meetings for residents, travelers and interested parties; registration is not required.
