First exercise-stimulating clinic in Zeeland

Previously, an exercise-stimulating clinic was set up in Friesland, Nijmegen, Tilburg, Gelderland and Limburg. ‘We are happy that Kapelle can follow these locations! We hope that our childcare center will be a nice place to visit with your child(ren).’ The child health clinic encourages young children to move through a design with different materials. In addition to encouraging children to exercise, it is a means of starting a conversation about the importance of exercise with parents.

Exercise is important

Exercise is very important and ensures good development in children. Exercise is not only important for a child’s motor skills, but also ensures relaxation, a good weight, better sleep, more self-confidence and has a positive effect on a child’s social skills. In short: exercise ensures good (mental) health! So it is good to teach children to move from a young age. And also to involve parents in this.

You will find floor stickers with colors and patterns that children can follow while jumping. There is also a wall mirror with exercise exercises and various play equipment. You will also find quotes and exercise exercises on the walls in the consultation office.

Youth nurse Maja de Koeijer: ‘Through the materials in the clinic we show in a simple way that exercise is important and, above all, very fun! Moreover, we immediately have a good impression of the child while playing with our materials. We are very proud of our waiting area at the consultation office. And we notice that this makes it much easier for us to talk about the subject of exercise. In addition to lots of fun, we have already received several positive reactions from parents!’

Working together on more exercise for youth in the municipality of Kapelle

The municipality of Kapelle and the GGD work closely together on exercise for young children. An exercise-stimulating clinic fits in well with this. The municipality has made an amount available for this. GGD Zeeland is very happy with the great collaboration and the budget made available!

In addition to the exercise-stimulating clinic, the MQ Scan is also administered to children at various primary schools in the municipality of Kapelle. During this scan, children’s motor skills are mapped out, so that children’s motor development can not only be measured but also improved.
