Coen has been working as Head of Operations in the Northern Netherlands unit since October 2022. Coen has worked within various police processes and in several units and brings a wealth of experience. Prior to his move to the Northern Netherlands, he was head of the National Intelligence Organization at the National Unit. Coen succeeds Joop de Schepper, who started working as Head of Operations and Deputy Police Chief of the National Investigation and Interventions unit at the end of last year.

Coen started his police career in 1987. He started as a police officer at the Jan Hendrikstraat station at the municipal police of The Hague. Since then he has held various leadership positions in blue, in investigation and in intelligence. He has also fulfilled various roles in large-scale performances for almost his entire career.

The police is a covenant partner of DGABD, for strategic MD advice and employment conditions for the police leadership. DGABD has supported the police in recruiting for this appointment.
