Limburg was well represented at the annual Asparagus Dinner on Wednesday, April 24 in Nieuwspoort. As a co-organizer, Asparagus Guild Limburg was allowed to provide a presentation and swear in State Secretary Gräper-van Koolwijk as Asparagus Ambassador 2024. In addition, Emile Roemer and Stephan Satijn performed parts of the program and the intermezzo was also by Bart Storcken of Limburg origin.

The Asparagus Dinner has been a happening for Nieuwspoort members for over 20 years. The more than 250 guests – including Dutch and foreign journalists, politicians, information officers, press attachés and PR officials – enjoyed a delicious asparagus dinner on April 24. The four-course dinner was prepared by the Nieuwspoort kitchen brigade, of course with Limburg asparagus, according to a traditional recipe with eggs and ham. This year, Asparagus Guild Limburg was involved for the first time in the organization of the event, which is also organized by Nieuwspoort, the Province of Limburg and Competition Support.
The asparagus was central, not only on the plate, but also between courses. For example, Governor Emile Roemer of the Province of Limburg talked about the importance of this Limburg specialty and Rik Kursten was allowed to give a presentation on behalf of Asparagus Guild Limburg. After a short introduction by Limburg representative Satijn, chairman Jan Linssen had the honor of swearing in chief guest State Secretary Gräper-Van Koolwijk as asparagus ambassador 2024. She received, among other things, a medal, certificate and a box of fresh Limburg asparagus. The musical intermezzo, which was offered by the Province of Limburg, was provided by Bart Storcken.
It was a special and very successful evening, during which the organization brought national attention to Limburg asparagus and asparagus cultivation.
