The largest Intratuin garden center in the Netherlands is celebrating its 40th anniversary, thanks to the efforts of André and Conny Nusselder, who opened it in Duiven in 1984. In the beginning they did not sell Christmas items and there was no café. Now, 40 years later, Intratuin Duiven is run by their sons Wouter and Nico, and is known for its extensive Christmas show, a big crowd puller.
Despite their age, André and Conny are still active in the garden center. They have agreed that André will keep his own office space as long as he lives. Conny has spent less time in the garden center due to her work in the catering industry and her involvement in renting out commercial spaces within the complex.
With more than 200 employees in low season and almost 300 in high season, the garden center has a great responsibility to its staff, especially during the challenges of the corona pandemic, which had a significant impact on business operations.
