‘Most entrepreneurs think EU regulatory pressure is too high’

VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland

Most entrepreneurs in the Netherlands believe the regulatory burden for companies in the European Union is too high. Reducing that regulatory burden is therefore the most important theme for entrepreneurs in the upcoming elections for the European Parliament. VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland report this based on a survey among more than 1,600 entrepreneurs.

According to that study, eight in ten entrepreneurs think the regulatory burden is too high and half believe that the EU should make efforts to reduce that pressure over the next five years. Relieving the regulatory burden is ‘the hot issue’ for entrepreneurs, according to VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland.

Furthermore, almost half (49 percent) say that more joint EU policy is needed on climate and energy. 45 percent also believe that more work should be done on a joint defense policy. Europe should form more unity in the geopolitical game against other major powers in the world, according to entrepreneurs.
