Utrecht University and Utrecht University of Applied Sciences are calling on their students to remove fear lists about female students. Today they emailed an urgent request to this effect, at the request of the victims.

“This situation requires a strong signal that we do not accept this behavior,” the university board said. “That is why we have decided to take the exceptional step of emailing all students, in addition to our previous messages and sanctions towards the Utrecht Student Corps.”

The university calls the creation and distribution of the lists “repulsive”, writes RTV Utrecht. The Utrecht educational institutions emphasize that it is a criminal offense to possess the lists.

Libel and/or slander

Last month, two lists were published shortly after each other containing the names, addresses, photos and telephone numbers of Utrecht students. The first list came from the Utrecht Student Corps. The ‘girl presentation’ also assessed alleged sexual activities of female students.

Two 20-year-old men from Utrecht have been arrested. Both are members of the student association. They are suspected of libel and/or slander. The association has also suspended some members due to their involvement in creating the banga lists.

A second list was distributed about two weeks after the first. It is still unclear by whom. In any case, the university and college have decided to no longer support the Utrecht corps for the time being.
