Assen – The stages of the Drenthe Liberation Festival will showcase a record number of regional artists on May 5. No fewer than 45 bands, singer-songwriters and DJs can be found on one of the Talent and Dance stages. The festival is therefore the biggest springboard for young music talent.

This year we will see national artists such as Jett Rebel, Dotan, Merol and Son Mieux at the Drenthe Liberation Festival. But Danytha, Dylamic, Traversus, Anique, Mavcase and Marieke Schenk can also be found at the Baggelhuizerplas. A large number of the regional talents can be admired on the Talent Stage (circus tent) and on the Welcome to the Playground stage.

Pop advisor Jan Stam of the Art & Culture Foundation says he is very pleased that so much Drenthe talent will be brought together at one festival on May 5. According to him, the Liberation Festival offers local and regional talent a great opportunity to present themselves to a wide audience. His organization has been committed to this for years and is responsible for the artists on two stages.

In the rematch

Some acts, such as DJ RemQ, urban artist Danytha and singer-songwriter Anique (from Ilse deLange’s stable) were already programmed at the Liberation Festival last year. However, their performance literally fell into the water due to a downpour. This year they can take revenge.

The Drenthe Liberation Festival is emphatically more than a pop festival. In addition to the musical performances, the festival also offers a substantive program and numerous activities for children. The festival takes place at the Baggelhuizerplas. The site opens at 11am. The first regional act, Danytha, starts at 11:30 am.
